Three-Piece Maintenance Kit for Aviation Spark Plugs

Proper routine maintenance of aviation engine spark plugs—using the right consumables and tools—can significantly reduce malfunctions and lower operational costs! Many maintenance technicians have encountered issues with standard anti-seize compounds, which tend to clump and are difficult to apply. If such a compound accidentally migrates to the firing end of a spark plug, it can easily cause carbon buildup or even trigger pre-ignition. To address this, Tempest has introduced the all-new Tempest T556 spark plug anti-seize lubricant.

The Tempest AT5K enables fast, accurate testing of spark plug resistance, with test results displayed instantly.

Checking spark plug resistance is crucial; excessive resistance can lead to the following issues:

✅Difficulty starting the engine

✅Intermittent ignition or misfires, increased fuel consumption, and excessive exhaust emissions

✅Rough running (vibration) in turbocharged engines

✅Engine vibration under peak lean-mixture operating conditions

✅Engine vibration at high altitudes

✅Carbon fouling of spark plugs

✅Accumulation of carbon deposits and unburned fuel in the crankcase, leading to engine oil contamination

✅Increased electrical load on ignition leads, contacts, capacitors, and magnetos

👉 Criteria: If resistance reaches 5000Ω, it is recommended to replace the spark plug!
