Garmin is pleased to announce the GCO™ 14 carbon monoxide (CO) detector, a remote-mounted sensor that integrates with select Garmin avionics to monitor CO levels and alert aircraft passengers of potentially harmful CO levels. The GCO 14 adds a new layer of situational awareness to the cockpit, giving pilots and their passengers peace of mind knowing the invisible threat of CO is being monitored.
GCO 14 seamlessly integrates CO level monitoring and alerts into the GTN™Xi navigator, GI 275 flight instrument and TXi™ flight display. Pilots can view current CO levels via a dedicated page or user data field. In the event of potentially harmful CO levels being detected, GCO 14 can provide both audible and visual alerts. When the avionics are connected to the audio panel, a visual alert flashes “CO Level” or “CO” information on the display and an audible alert “Carbon Monoxide” is also triggered. To supplement the preset alert thresholds, custom notifications can activate CO messages under pilot-selectable limits.
The small and lightweight GCO 14 module is easily installed behind an aircraft panel. The standard kit includes a pre-made 7-inch cable for connecting to the avionics, and the unit can be easily secured to the wiring harness with a cable tie or mounted directly to the LRU connector.
The GCO 14 complies with FAA TSO-C48A standards for use in certified aircraft and has a sensor life of up to 10 years. When required, the GCO 14 can be easily disconnected and replaced via the 4-pin connector.
